Early Childhood Technology Apps to Develop Problem Solving Skills with Beth Poss
This session will build on the information presented in previous sessions and examine selected apps and technology resources that can be powerful tools to support problem-solving through play for young children, including those with disabilities. We will apply the considerations for choosing an effective early childhood technology learning resource to examine apps that promote early math and problem-solving skills. The session will also focus on strategies for educators and families to use these resources not simply as something to entertain their child, but to build the skills that children need to be active learners, rather than just passively engaging with media and technology.
Outcomes: Participants will be able to
1. Discuss 5 reputable sources that discuss the appropriate use of media with young children
2. List 7 criteria for an effective early childhood app
3. Identify 3 effective apps in both of the areas of language and problem solving
