Focused instruction in early literacy is critical for young children with disabilities to ensure that they have opportunities to develop the skills needed to become readers and writers. This series will explore best practices in providing emergent reading and writing instruction with a focus on how to make early literacy experiences accessible for children with complex communication and physical needs. Participants will be able to: 1. Describe 4 ways that early reading can be supported by digital technology 2. Describe 4 ways that early reading can be supported by low tech resources 3. Identify 4 resources that educators can provide access to literacy instruction for young children with communication and/or physical disabilities
